Contacting HMRC - Tax Enquiries
During 2010 the HMRC contact details have changed as the NPS system has been introduced that negates the need for local office enquiry handling.

And only one for employers:
0845 7 143 143
Plus changes to the Contact Centre opening hours:
No Sunday Opening

NPS - Help and Support
The introduction of the NPS system has consolidated personal tax information by bringing together the tax data from all the local area offices.
The result is that historical reconciliation of tax codings and payments received by the HMRC has been possible and it is upon this data that current personal allowances are based with the appropriate tax codes issued.
